Last week I was fortunate enough to be sat in a wonderful small Italian restaurant called Enoteca Super Tuscan http://www.supertuscan.co.uk/ - if you get the chance to call, it is in a small side street near Liverpool Street Station and the pasta parcels are mouth-watering! Opposite was a tailors called Norton and Townsend – a Yorkshire Company founded on the principles of highly trained, skilled staff giving excellent personal service. Reading their story, it struck me how similar it was to my own.
First and foremost we are a traditional family business. Inside our shop you will find furniture and bespoke furnishings that have been designed and made in our own on site workshops. Every year thousands of metres of the finest fabrics from all around the world are unrolled and turned into curtains, blinds, sofas and chairs. Local craftsmen and women pour over the fabrics applying traditional skills honed by years of practice - and all this is going on behind the scenes at 47, North Bar Within. In a year we have fired over a million staples into furniture and hand sewn the distance across the Humber Bridge and back.
Working in partnership with our design team, it has been our pleasure to design and furnish homes across the country and abroad for over 25 years. During those journeys we have discovered many kindred spirits - Artisans who share our passion for design, innovation and quality. Our shop displays a snapshot of those talents and you can see them for yourself. We have mirrors, hand blown glass lamps, tables and cabinets and stunning floral arrangements.
In essence our business is about people for it is people that create, design and then enjoy and live.
